Rapid City Youth Boxing’s mission is to use the sport of boxing in a safe environment to develop and enhance an athlete’s physical, social and emotional well-being. By developing an individual’s character attributes discipline, work ethic, courage, respect, composure and sportsmanship, our boxers increase self-confidence and contribute to a stronger community.
Rapid City Youth Boxing is a nonprofit organization and part of the USA Boxing Organization, which is the governing body of amateur, Olympic-style boxing. Our club is staffed with volunteers and is governed by a Board of Directors that provides oversight of the boxing program. Safety is a main principle in amateur boxing.
Rapid City Youth Boxing competes in local, regional and national tournaments which can lead to the Olympics. The competitors are divided into age, weight and experience categories. Over the years we have produced a number of amateur boxers who have won state, regional and national titles. The decision to compete is a choice by the boxer and a determination by the coach of the boxer’s readiness to compete.
